Interviews don't have to make you feel flustered. Or anxious.
Sign up to receive this simple guide that has all the right questions in one place and will help you feel confident with any prospective client.
For the lovely VAs + Copywriters out there...
You're on a Zoom call with a potential client, and it seems to be going really well so far.
You've talked about yourselves, your families, your hobbies, and your shared interest in memes.
All good.
But then, it happens...
Your mind goes blank. You know you have some more questions you need to ask, but they've all suddenly vanished.
What the hell do you do now? It's only been 10 minutes and you've both blocked off 30 minutes for this call.
*smiling awkwardly*
You soon find yourself going off a tangent to fill the silence...hoping the right questions come back to you.
They don't.
*cringe*
Awesome - he or she will want to invest in you for sure.
Long story short, you end the meeting and he/she disappears into the night. No relationship, no moving forward.
Look, it happens. You hop on a call, feeling super confident, and then your mind races in a million different directions. Or, you realize that you don't know what questions to ask to get the answers you need.
Then, if you do move forward with that person, you're having to set up more than two meetings to get the in-depth insights that you're looking for.
"Wait, it's not really clear what benefits her product provides...I can't position the company as unique...I need more information...again gaaaaaaah."
Yikes.
So, I've created an interview cheat sheet with the necessary questions to ask your potential client before moving forward.
Not only is it important to understand what they do, but you have to make sure you both will be a good fit together.
For example, I once had to turn down a client because she would definitely be a micro-manager. And she often worked night hours. I knew it would be a problem for both of us because I work better independently and I would probably receive many emails/messages after work hours. So, I helped her find someone else, and we cordially parted ways.
It's okay to turn someone down - it doesn't mean you're a heartless troll.
With that said, I hope you find this PDF helpful - it's intended for virtual assistants who also create copy for their clients.
Let me know if you have any questions!
